We Sent Garth Heckman’s Church to See Chris Tomlin

In March, we asked KTIS listeners to tell us a little more about their church, and how it is really making a difference in the community. From those stories, we chose one church to receive up to 250 tickets to see Chris Tomlin at the Xcel Energy Center.

We ended up sending Garth Heckman and Harmony Church from Lakeville.

Garth’s wife Kim sent us this story:

Three years ago my husband started this church on his own with no outside support, needless to say it was a huge step of faith- but one we knew God was calling us to. It has been the best thing we have ever done. The people that walk through our door each week are mostly brand new christians or people they have invited. They are the type of people who never thought they were good enough for church or God. We have seen so many miracles and lives so changed by their new relationship with christ! We are made up of ordinary people who strive to MAKE GOD LOOK GOOD, which is our church motto. Going out into the world and just using our gifts to bless people and bring them to the love of Jesus through our love. In September my husband was diagnosed with cancer and has been undergoing chemotherapy since. We have so many people in the church that have really helped the church to continue to grow and thrive through all of this. Never complaing, it points to the fact that this church is truly headed by God and not the pastor. We meet in a school, so before these people can go to church, they have to set up a church from a trailer we transport there every week. Talk about working for your dinner! We also have a small staff that does all this work even though we cannot afford to pay them yet, making so many sacrifices in their lives to do it. I can’t think of a more deserving group of people! These are people that have never experienced a christian concert, and probably never will. I beleive the awe of being with so many other believers and in the presence of God, would truly be a huge life changing time for all of them. They really deserve all the credit for Harmony continuing to grow through their outreach into the community, which is the way it should be. Please pray for us during this time of trial, God’s grace and nearness really is so amazing during these tough days! Bless you, and thanks for giving us this opportunity to share how wonderful our people are!
