September 5! Drive Thru Difference Day!
Once again it is Drive Thru Difference Day at 98.5 KTIS. It is a great chance for you to do something nice for a stranger!
It’s really simple. Just download and print off this Drive Thru Difference sheet (PDF). Then, as you go about your day and grab that cup of coffee, or lunch, simply pay for the person behind you in the drive thru. Leave them this sheet to let them know they have been a part of this event.
If you have a story to share about how you were blessed, or were able to bless someone, you may leave a comment on this blog post!

Today I learned about KTIS and “the drive through difference” because I was a lucky recipient! I wanted to write to tell you what a wonderful experience this was for me and why.
I am a single mom of three children (two at home). In May 2007, my oldest daughter was involved in a terrible auto accident that left her paralyzed. She nearly died! She was in critical condition/intensive care for 2 1/2 months, she endured a dozen surgeries, the longest was more than 17 hours. My daughter is a single mom of three boys who have been in my care ever since while my daughter has been in the hospital and now in rehab. Overnight my family grew by adding three energetic, growing, hungry young boys!
Needless to say my life has been filled with extreme chaos! I love these children but it has been tough because my life is filled with work and responsibility and my budget streatched to the extreme. I work a full-time day job, and in the evening and on weekends my life is filled with household chores, shopping, cooking, cleaning, etc. Nobody does anything for me. Until today…
Random acts of kindness are such powerful stuff because the goodness you give can hold value beyond anything you can imagine. My drink was an inexpensive 4 shots of espresso for under $2, but the fact that a complete stranger reached out and did something for me left me with a priceless feeling of hope. I hope you’ll read my letter and I hope that person who bought my drink and left the note this morning is listening. I stopped at Starbucks on Cliff Road in Eagan, shortly after 10am today. Thank you for your kindness and thoughtfullness; you really made my day more than any words can say!

To the woman in the white SUV at McDonalds, and to the man in the red car at DQ,
Thanks for blessing me today!
My intent was to bless YOU by paying for your lunches, but God turned that right around and filled me with such joy! I’m so thankful that He provided me with the funds to share with two other people today! We are having some financial trouble, so this was truly sacrificial on my part, but I came away from the experience with a big reminder that God is my provider, and He gives me everything I need! I hope you were as blessed as I was!

I had heard about the ‘drive-thru-difference’ but had no idea what day it was for. So twice now I hopefully have made a difference. The first time was at a McDonald’s drive-thru, I think I got more out of the experience than the person behind me. Just watching them in my rearview mirrow when the cashier told them I paid for them, I received a huge ‘wave’ out of their window as I drove off. The feeling I got was worth receiving knowning that my day ahead was going to be one of everyday stress at my jobs. I knew I could hold on to that morning feeling. God blessed me more. Thanks for having this idea. I used it on days you don’t have assigned, and the feeling was great.

What a shock when I drove up to pay for our order at the DQ in Eden Prairie when I was told that the lady in front of me had paid for my order! My first thought was that there was a computer error and now I needed to pay her! But no, the drive through attendant handed me a note that stated that she had paid for my order! I have told friends and family about it, and they all want a copy of the letter with an intent to do this for someone else! What a great idea!!

Thank you so much to the person(s) who paid for our meal at the Country Drive-In north of Lafayette, MN on 8/8/08. You cannot imagine how much this meant to us. We were on our way home after picking up our 16-year old daughter from the hospital in Hutchinson. We had experienced one of the worst weeks of our lives when we were the recipients of “the Drive Thru Difference”. Thank you for lifting us up when we were down. We look forward to doing the same as we pass your note along.

I was on my way to volunteer at my son’s school but was stopping off to pick up coffee for myself and another volunteer. What a nice surprise it was to get to the window and find that the car in front of me had bought our coffee. I was so shocked and surpised and happy! Thanks to the woman with the two young kids in the backseat at Caribou in Osseo!

I love taking part in the drive through difference days - I feel so blessed by spreading God’s love to others. Well, the drive through difference that that your listeners are participating in is spreading! Today is Wednesday, Aug. 13th. It’s not a DTW day.
This week it seems like every hour I have battled against a new injustice in this world - adults injustice against innocent children. Although I know that God has the big, perfect plan, in my human-ness I’ve been struggling to make sense of these things and wonder where God is in it all.
I got my answer today at Caribou on Shady Oak Road. He’s right here with me, and loving me. Thank you to that wonderful person for reminding me of that!!!!!

I was not able to participate in your drive thru difference on the 8th so I did it on the 15th. I got a free drink from Caribou Coffee for my birthday so I bought 2 drinks for the car behind me. What a great way to start the weekend as we headed to Higher Ground.

I love the Drive Thru Difference Day but it didn’t help my diet. I went through Wendy’s with the intent of buying lunch for the person behind me. The cashier didn’t understand English well so she didn’t know what to do. I bought my lunch and left. However, I promptly went across the road to McDonalds and bought a drink just so I could pay for the person behind me! It was fun to see the look on the people’s faces when the cashier told them their lunch was paid for!

When is the next drive-through difference day? I just wanted to know if I will be in town for it or not. There are several Christian stations out here in the Maryland/DC area, but not nearly the community or footprint KTIS. Will there be an October drive-through difference?

I went ahead and printed out the pdf for the Drive Thru Difference on Friday an went ahead and paid for a young possibly dating couple in the truck behind me at Chick-fil-A. Just cause I know all you are jealous we actually have a Chick-fil-A here in Maryland. Well, I’m jealous of your Caribou Coffee that I miss so much!
Anyway, I just crossed out “on the dial” and wrote down the KTIS website. I am looking into doing this with our church evangelism ministry! We are always looking for ways for our congregation to go out there and share their faith, and this is a non-confrontational way too! We could just tailor our letter and include our church address or website or something. You’ve got me thinking, KTIS!!!

My daughter and I went through the drive through at McDonalds just to get a cone and then I remembered that I had some printed off flyers for “drive through difference”…I was so excited to finally use one! So I paid for the cones and then listened tothe cashier tell the person behind me what their total was.. Okay, I had enough cash so I said “I would like to pay for their order and would you please give them this paper when they pull up?” She was so puzzled…and asked if I knew them. “No, I said, but you are welcome to read the paper to understand”. I was so excited and wanted to remain more anonymous that I sped forward and passed by the window with the girl holding out the cones! I had to back up 10 feet and my daughter and I were laughing so hard! What a joy to be able to give!
