July 3! Drive Thru Difference Day!
Once again it is Drive Thru Difference Day at 98.5 KTIS.It is a great chance for you to do something nice for a stranger!
It’s really simple. Just download and print off this Drive Thru Difference sheet (PDF). Then, as you go about your day and grab that cup of coffee, or lunch, simply pay for the person behind you in the drive thru. Leave them this sheet to let them know they have been a part of this event.
If you have a story to share about how you were blessed, or were able to bless someone, you may leave a comment on this blog post!

Good morning!
Boy, did the drive thru difference make my day! I was having a really crummy morning and I stopped at Caribou to get a little pick-me-up. When I pulled up to the window, I had a wonderful surprise waiting for me….the van in front of me PAID for my coffee and left me a little note. So what did I do…pay for the car’s order behind me.
What a pick-me-up and attitude adjusment! Not only do you help someone else when you pay it forward, you help YOURSELF!!!
Thank you! Happy 4th of July!

I am kinda the backwards story. I did the “drive thru difference” for someone. I love the reactions! I could plainly see her say, “WOW”, then “Why?” I think it is great to be a bright spot in someones day. There are too many negatives in our world and this is definitely a way to “make a difference”. Blessings to you KTIS!

While driving from Stillwater to White Bear as I doing M-F, I was of course listening to my favorite radio station KTIS.
I had forgotten that it was the Drive Thru Difference day and was upset that I had forgotten to write a special note and make someone’s day a little brighter.
I decided I needed an OJ and pulled into the Burger King in White Bear and to my SURPRISE a young woman in the vehicle in front of me paid for my OJ and I was given a wonderful note.
If she reads this I would like her to know that she did make a difference in my already perfect morning.
I always listen to KTIS and thank GOD for everyone who is a part of KTIS and who are constantly bringing us the Blessings of GOD.
Thank You and have a very Happy and Safe 4th!

I listen to KTIS all the time. I love hearing the people call in about the “drive thru difference” experiences they have. It always makes me smile. — Today my maintenance man ran to get lunch for us, when he came back he was so excited that someone had paid for our lunch at the drive-thru and he handed me the note from “the stranger in the car ahead of you”.
To the woman who paid for our lunch today in Forest Lake, I would like to say “thank you” for making our already beautiful day a little brighter.
Thank you KTIS for being an awesome part of my life.
God Bless and Happy 4th of July
Carrie

As I presented my letter and credit card for my order this morning and the person behind me at the Starbuck’s in Brooklyn Park, the cashier said, the person before you paid for you. She said I was the 8th car to pay for the person behind them. I completely believe as a previous comment indicates that someone started it and it was passed on from there.
God is so good!!!

At noon my Husband called me at work to tell me we got a unexpected check in the mail. You see my Husband has been on strike for almost 4 months and financially struggling. Are friends and church family has helped us thru this really tough time. So I decided to go to McDonalds for lunch and I was listening to you guys and remembered what day it was so I paid for the Lady behind me. I’ve been so grateful how God knows just when we need something. He’s never late. So I prayed for her and I know some how God will touch her. Thanks KTIS for all you do. Wendy

I wanted to say a HUGE thank you to my friend Sawyer! I sure hope he reads this. I received my lunch paid and a nice note today at the Wendy’s in Woodbury. I am a very optimic, caring and giving person myself and now someone cared about me! I am a very strong person that very rarely cries, but when I read your note, I cried, and I cried all the way back to work and Im still crying! You have touched my heart! I am a single 39 year old female wanting a child desperately. You have become my angel. Your note will forever be posted on my refrigerator to remind me of all the angels out there! What a wonderful feeling!

My boys and I just participated in the Drive Thru Difference for the first time today and it was SO MUCH FUN! We wondered what we would do if no one pulled in the KFC drive thru behind us and decided if that happened, we’d just keep going through drive thrus till we found someone to bless. But just as we were finishing placing our order, a gentleman pulled in behind us. I felt a little bad for him because my boys kept turning around to check out the man we would bless! — The best part was after we paid for his meal: Traffic kept us from leaving the parking lot right away, so we were able to see his reaction. He put up his bill to pay, but the person in the window handed him the letter and his food instead. He looked confused, opened the letter, and got a big smile on his face. He has beautiful very dark skin, so his white smile most definitely lit up his face!
He began to wave at us and we exploded with joy. It is definitely more blessed to give than to receive. Thank you for the wonderful idea, KTIS!

Wow! What a week this has been. I work at Church of the Open Door, where we just held the funeral service for my dear friend Julie who was killed in the Temperance River accident last week. I have been experiencing a wide array of emotions and am completely wiped out. After leaving the doctor today, I had KTIS on and was listening to the woman who had just had her lunch paid for in Wheaton, IL! I thought it was so awesome. Then I decided to pull through the McDonalds before returning to work, and got the following note when I got to the window to pay:
“Lunch in on me! Have a blessed day. 98.5 KTIS Drive Thru Difference! (heart), Amy (the car ahead of you)”
What a blessing! I’m sure it seems like a small gesture, but it really made my day. Thanks, Amy!

I’ve been wanting to participate in the Drive Thru Difference for the past several months, but somehow I’ve always missed it (forgotten, been out of town and not realized, etc). I had completely forgotten about it today until I got in the car on my way home from work and turned on the radio. Determined, I stopped at Burger King on my way home. Unfortunately, it was about 3:00, and no one else was there! So I drove to McDonald’s, and on my way I noticed a woman in an SUV behind me. It’s an interesting feeling, wondering if the person behind you will be the person you end up paying for! As it turns out, she was. When I got to the pay window, I handed the cashier the note and explained that I would like to pay for the woman behind me. The poor guy had to get his manager to make sure it was OK! But I could tell that I was not the first to do this there today, because when the manager saw my note, he rang the order, gave me a knowing smile, and said, “Thank you so much; I’m sure she appreciates it.”
I feel so blessed to be able to do this for someone, and to know that I’ve brightened someone’s day, even if just a little. Thank you so much, KTIS, for inspiring us all to make a positive change in our world!

One year ago tomorrow, my family lost our home to foreclosure. But God is good–all the time!!–and we are in a wonderful place, with great new friends and an AWESOME new church! With tight finances, though, we don’t do the drive-thru very much. One of the biggest burdens in our budget is gas, so I decided that I would pay $20 of a person’s gas bill. I just wrote a note on the paper I printed from your website explaining the difference, and asked the cashier to pass it on for me. Thank you for encouraging us!

We went to Arby’s last night (not the cheapest fast food out there) and had a large order. When we got to the window and were told the car ahead of us paid for it and were handed the note, it made our week! We gladly paid for the person behind us and it felt so good I am going to do it more. So to the black SUV at the woodbury Arby’s on 7-3-08, THANK YOU!

I didn’t get a chance to do the drive through difference on Thursday, July 3rd. I figured you didn’t have to wait for a scheduled day to make a difference nor use a drive through. I really didn’t have a large excess of money but I felt a strong need to do this. While waiting in line at the grocery store in Red Wing, MN there was an older gentleman in front of me and I looked at the cashier and said, I would like to pay for his groceries just add them to my bill. The gentleman said, “Oh! No! you don’t need to do that! The cashier said, Wow! Are you sure? That is very nice of you! I said, I am sure and told the gentleman that I am paying forward. I am a listener of KTIS Christian radio station and I really want to do this. He was very gracious and said, Thank you! When his groceries were bagged and he was ready to leave I said, May God bless your day! I encouraged him to listen to KTIS 98.5 because it is a great radio station. He replied, God bless your day back to me! The cashier looke at me and said, Thank you for restoring my faith in humanity. Hopefully they found a new radio station to listen to!! My husband and I are very faithful listeners and KTIS is the only station that plays in our house, garage and cars!

I love the idea for drive-thru difference day and am thrilled that so many people from so many places have gotten involved. However I was wondering if we could expand it a bit. Not everybody goes thru the drive-thru or gets coffee in the morning so not everybody is experiencing the generosity of others being given the opportunity to be generous. So why not make it a make a difference day or a day to pay it forward. Do a random act of kindness where ever you are. No matter how small or how huge. Just let someone know you are watching and you do care. Help carry groceries, open a door, let someone go ahead you in line, anything that you be out of the ordinary in this day and age of everyone rushing to get to place faster and get things done faster. Everyone’s lives are so hectic wouldn’t it be nice to just stop and see the needs of the world around us.
