Bebo Norman & Brandon Heath
Last week I was honored and blessed to have a small role in the Set Apart Conference. Let me rephrase that…I asked to be a part of it! Don’t get ahead of me; my request wasn’t about me.
Let me explain.
Bebo Norman appeared in concert with Brandon Heath at the Set Apart Conference. For months, I’ve been wearing out the latest CD from Bebo (Between the Dreaming and the Coming True). I specifically asked our promotions department if I could introduce Bebo at the concert. To my joy, I was asked to do so along with Lisa Barry. My request to be a part of this evening was so that I might specifically have an opportunity to thank Bebo for allowing the Lord to use him through his latest CD to directly touch my life.

We all go through seasons in our lives that aren’t particularly pleasant. However, Bebo’s entire CD brings out the peace that God provides (if we allow Him to) through our most difficult moments. I personally need to be at a place that no matter what I’m faced with, I stay focused on Christ, count it all joy, and know that despite my flesh and emotion, God sees the ultimate conclusion (1 Peter 5:10). To that I say “Glory to God!”
Between Bebo’s words and music of peace and surrender and Brandon Heath’s humble servanthood, the concert became an evening of thankful praise and worship! (By the way, congratulations to Brandon on his Dove Award nomination for Worship Song of the Year for “Our God Reigns.”)

One more note: Out of 200 contestants, Wendy Gordy was the winner of the recent “Sing for the King” competition held through KTIS AM 900 and its daily program “Along the Way with Kim Jeffries.” Lisa and I joined Wendy and her husband Jeff for dinner with Bebo before the concert. The Gordys are true blessings!

Afterward, Wendy was awarded her grand prize–the opportunity to sing with Bebo during the concert! Wendy clearly demonstrated her love for the Lord in song (quite impressively, glory to God). What a phenomenal evening!
Dave
P.S. If you didn’t make it to the concert, we’ve got more from Bebo and Brandon for you. Check out our previous interview with Bebo here, or let us know what you think of our new feature “Three Minutes With…” as we try it out on new artist Brandon Heath!
